The extension combines a multi-AI side panel, webpage highlights, personal notes, highlight management, AI handoff actions, cookie banner blocking, and a toolbar badge.
Service switching
Switch between ChatGPT, Gemini, Qwen, Claude, Kimi, Grok, DeepSeek, or your own custom URL.
Highlights
Select text on any website, then apply yellow, green, blue, pink, or orange highlights.
Notes
Add personal notes to highlighted text and edit them from the Highlights tab.
Highlight manager
Search, filter, copy, delete, and jump back to saved highlights from the side panel.
Cookie banner blocking
Automatically blocks supported OneTrust cookie consent banners with no setup required.
Installation
Load the extension and open the side panel.
The documentation describes a developer-mode install flow for Chrome.
Open extensions
Go to chrome://extensions/ in Chrome.
Developer mode
Enable Developer mode in the top-right corner.
Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked and select the extension folder.
Pin toolbar icon
The extension icon appears in the Chrome toolbar.
First use
Click the icon and the AI side panel opens automatically.
AI Side Panel
Open, switch, reload, and customize AI services.
Use the toolbar icon, selected text, or the settings panel to control the AI workspace.
Opening methods
- Click the extension icon on the toolbar.
- Select text on a webpage and click Ask AI.
- Ask AI opens the side panel and pre-fills the selected text when supported.
Panel controls
- Use settings to choose the active AI service.
- Reload refreshes the embedded AI page.
- Open in new tab launches the AI service in a full browser tab.
- Defaults restores the original service list.

Strong Embed Mode
Use when an AI page refuses to load.
Enable Strong embed in settings, then reload the AI page. Some AI services may still block iframe embedding even with this mode enabled.
Highlights and Notes
Capture selected text, add context, and revisit it later.

Select text
Select any text on a webpage and the floating toolbar appears near the selection.
Choose a color
Click a color to highlight instantly, or choose Note to write personal context before saving.
Open details
Click highlighted text to view the original text, your note, and actions for Copy, Ask AI, or Delete.

Highlight Manager
Search, filter, copy, delete, and navigate.
The Highlights tab consolidates saved text across websites and adds actions for research workflows.
Search
Search highlighted text, notes, and page titles from the Highlights tab.
Filters
Switch between All, This page, and With note to narrow the highlight list.
Copy options
Copy one highlight or all highlights as text only, or include notes and source links.
Delete
Delete one highlight or delete all after reviewing the count. Deletion cannot be undone.
View on page
Click View to scroll to a highlight on the current page and outline it for easy identification.
Toolbar badge
The extension icon shows the current highlight count, with 99+ as the maximum displayed value.

Sending text to AI
- From a webpage: select text and click Ask AI.
- From Highlights: click Ask AI on a saved highlight.
- From the info popup: click Ask AI after opening a highlight.
Cookie banner blocking
- Blocks OneTrust banners from cdn.cookielaw.org.
- Blocks OneTrust Geolocation.
- No configuration is needed.

SideAI Hub does not collect, sell, or share personal user data for advertising, profiling, or data resale.
Local browser storage
All highlights, notes, and settings are stored locally in the user's browser using Chrome storage. The extension does not store personal data on external servers.
User-selected text
The extension may process user-selected text to provide core features such as highlighting, note-taking, and AI-powered assistance.
No cross-site tracking
The extension does not track users across websites and does not collect browsing history beyond what is required to provide its core functionality.
AI features are explicit actions
When the user explicitly chooses to use AI features, such as Ask AI, selected text may be sent to the selected third-party AI service, including services such as OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude. This data is transmitted only after user action and is not stored by the extension.

AI not showing
Enable Strong embed, open the AI in a new tab, and confirm that you are logged in to the AI service.
Highlights missing after reload
Make sure you are on the exact same URL. If the page content changed, re-highlight the text.
Text not filling AI chat
Reload the AI page, try another AI service, and make sure the AI page is logged in and ready.
Cookie banner still showing
The extension only blocks OneTrust banners. Other consent providers are not covered.
Browser support
The extension is designed for Chrome. It may work on Edge, but Edge has not been tested.
Restore defaults
Use Defaults in settings to restore the original seven AI service entries.

Are highlights synced across devices?
No. Highlights are currently saved only on your current browser. Sync functionality is planned for a future release.
Can I change the color of an existing highlight?
Currently, you need to delete the old highlight and create a new one with your preferred color.
Does the extension collect my personal data?
No. Highlights and notes are saved on your computer, and the extension does not collect or sell personal data.
Can I export highlights to a file?
File export is planned. For now, you can copy highlights to the clipboard and paste them into a text or Word document.
Does it work outside Chrome?
The extension is designed for Chrome. Chromium-based browsers may work, but they are not the tested target.
